Literature Review

The literature review is basically a conceptual study that analyzes the existing research in the area of concern. The article presents a new problem of animal waste management through arsenic waste. Arsenic is a chemical element and occurs in many minerals, usually in conjunction with sulfur and metals, and also as a pure element crystal. Arsenic is notoriously poisonous to multi-cellular life because of the interaction of arsenic ions with protein thiols. Arsenic and its compounds are used in the production of pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides. Hence, as the article states that it is being used in the poultry industry with addition to the feed given to the chicken. This element is present in “Roxarsone” and according to the article is transformed into inorganic arsenic wastes and soils. This waste is a also the source of ground water contamination which imposes great threats to the human health and the health of the children who are yet to be born. It is one of the fundamental steps towards betterment of environmental health.

\ For the literature search a computerized bibliographic search was conducted from the Google search engine. To make the research applicable to current time period articles and studies from the 21st century were reviewed.

In an article written by Mike Adams, he states that the FDA has finally admitted that chicken meet sold in the USA contains arsenic, a cancer-causing toxic chemical that’s fatal in high doses. FDA says its own search shows that the arsenic added to the chicken feed ends up in the chicken meet where it is being consumed by the Americans for the last 60 years, a known cancer-causing chemical. He states that there is a major controversy surrounding as to why this lethal additive is being added into the feed.
