Out of the gate Nike has proven itself to be success oriented by excelling in business with a detailed strategy. CEO Phil Knight operates with two main goals in mind; one, he knew the company would be better off and able to save more by cutting costs and outsourcing all manufacturing, and secondly creating one of the world’s first and largest “virtual” corporations, and with the money saved pour it into the “Nike Image”. Nike has been attacked over the last decade about their business strategy and if it objectifies foreign cultures and after reading this article it is evident that it has. “Hitting the Wall: Nike and International Labor Practices” has clearly shown how Nike has fallen short when it comes to being a humanitarian oriented company, and points out that Nike is only in the business to maximize profit despite the despair and harm it may bring to the families of its foreign factory workers.

Chief operators of any company in the United States tend to be responsible for mostly everything regarding their business whether good or bad. In regards to Nike and its responsibility to protect the well being of its foreign employees, I believe they should be held accountable for any discrepancies within the organization. Indirectly, Nike employs the factory workers where business is outsourced and expects certain results. Companies should take pride in the goods and/or services that are produced and one would hope, have an unrelenting humanitarian outlook in regards to business. A company, even when outsourcing, should have to meet the laws/rules of their own country. The habitat of any “work” establishment should have to follow universal codes of conduct in order to do business, and unable to cut corners. This relates to my belief that an American corporation that reaps the benefits of tax breaks should have to follow guidelines of the United States to instill a humanitarian ideology across the globe in hopes of making this the norm in every country and in turn...
