Online vs. Traditional Education

In today’s age of technology, is there any reason for a person to not further their education? Is there a difference between a traditional education and an online education? Today we are presented with several options to be able to achieve the goal of gaining a college education. With these options that are available we can find the perfect fit for each of us. While both online and traditional educations ready a student for their career choice, they can both impact someone’s personal life through the level of motivation needed, flexibility of where and when you are in class and how much time is invested in each class. There are benefits and obstacles with both choices as well as some things that are the same.

Most degrees that can be obtained in a traditional setting can also be obtained in an online setting. In an online setting, you can receive your associates, bachelors, master’s and doctorate in arts or science. The nice thing with doing classes online is that you can complete it at your own pace. You can take more classes as long as you keep a certain GPA, thus being able to complete the degree program more quickly, you can take the normal class load and finish your degree in approximately the same amount of time as a traditional education, or you can also take longer if your circumstances change as you go along in your program. For the associates program online, it will take anywhere from eighteen months to two years to complete. The bachelors program would take about three to four years, depending on what pace you take your classes and the master’s program could be completed in a year, more or less. And a doctorate will take about three years, giving time for personal and professional commitments. In a traditional setting the differences are small in the timeline to obtain your degree(s).
