The competitive strategies credit card companies are pursuing are analyzing what purchases made and where those purchases are made. The data derived from these sources are then combined to determine an individual’s behavioral profile. This will allow the credit card companies to align their goals with that of their customers and potentially weed out any customers that will be a liability to its organization or revenue ability. Furthermore, this data will allow the credit card companies to build positive personal relationships with its customers, which in turn will help retain loyal customers and increase profits. Information systems support the credit card companies’ strategy by allowing for quick, accurate, and wide spread collection and knowledge of a plethora of customers purchase actions. This information can then be analyzed, sorted, scrubbed, and put in a visual depiction so companies can understand or comprehend what their customers needs are while at the same time understanding how to align the companies vision or goal with that of their customers. To remain competitive and in most instances ahead of other credit card companies organizations must understand that a happy customer is a loyal customer. Organizations’ must change with their environment to remain competitive, while at the same time protecting it self financially by not taking unnecessary risk. Therefore, information systems will take out personal biases when collecting and analyzing information that is fed to companies from a customer’s purchases or behaviors. When it comes to any type of data, numbers do not lie!
