Teenage Sex

Sexually active teenagers in America are a major problem we must look at. The question that rings in the minds of teenagers everywhere is when they should have sex. Our Biblical teachings, teaches us to wait until one is in a loving marriage to have sex. Not only is the church preaching abstinence, but now public schools are also teaching students the advantages of abstinence. Teen sex is a growing to be a vital issue. Teen sex is generally the cause of teen pregnancy.

Sexually transmitted diseases flourish in a society of teenage sex, where teens have numerous sex partners. A result of this is STD's becoming more abundant among the population. One explanation for the plague of STD's is the misuse of contraceptives by teens. Many teens believe that contraceptives are 100% effective against the spread of STD’s but in fact, they do not stop the spread 100% and nowhere on the products does it state that they stop the spread of STD’s 100%. According to CDC, “Estimates suggest that even though young people aged 15–24 years represent only 25% of the sexually experienced population, they acquire nearly half of all new STDs” (2009). Many teens believe nothing is wrong in committing premarital sex and have intercourse with many different partners. Through the ages of 15 and 19 the chance of spreading sexually transmitted diseases each time increases. With sexual intercourse on the rise with high school students, and its acceptance among the public, even more teens are having sex these days. According to CDC “70% of students say they were socially pressured into having sex” (2009). If society has the power to pressure teens to have sex, society ought to use that power to educate teens about the dangers of teenage sex.
