Scope of the case study
The scope of the case study is to understand the need for an HRIS system at TCS, the method of implementing it and the current status of the HRIS system.
Methodology
The case study involves primary data inputs via interviewing HR professionals from TCS, employees who have used the Ultimatix system and secondary data via research from the internet.
About Human Resource Information Systems
An HRIS is a set of components working together for the purpose of collecting, processing and storing information to support HR decision making, coordination and control in an organization. The idea was that HRIS would allow for the HR function to become more efficient and to provide better information for decision-making by reducing the time needed for administrative tasks. The question remains whether HRIS has fulfilled its promise.
In its most basic form, HRIS can be treated as a system used to acquire, store, manipulate, analyze, retrieve and distribute pertinent information about an organization’s human resources. It is often regarded as a service provided to an organization in the form of information. HRIS has the opportunity to provide a lot of strategic support to the HR of the organization.
