Learning Styles 1
While looking at this assignment and doing the research for this paper, I had to think, “what is my learning style, how did I learn in school while I young and how and am I learning now and does this effective the way I am teaching now”? In this paper I will discuss the 3 types of learning styles, my personal learning style and how do I apply these or different styles to my students.
The Different Types of Learning Styles
There are three basic types of learning styles, auditory, visual, and kinesthic. The three most common are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. (Instructor Magazine,2009) However, most people learn best through a combination of the three types of learning styles, but everybody is different. Visual learners, learn through seeing. They need to see the teacher’s body language and facial expression to fully understand the content of a lesson, visual displays, diagrams, illustrated textbooks, and examples(handouts). An example of visual learner also use their hands when telling a story, remember faces instead of names, and write things down as a way of remembering things. Another style of learners are auditory, they learn through listening to things being explained than read, verbal lectures, discussion, talking through and listening to what other have to say. Examples of auditory learner are people, who like to tell jokes, hums or sings, and are louder than others. The third style of learners are kinesthic learners, they learn best through moving, doing, and touching, hands on approach, and actively exploring the physical world.(LdPride.net) Kinesthic learners will like going on field trips, cooking, building models, and using manipulatives.
