Appendix I

Wireless Network Plan

Use the following outline to create your wireless network plan. Fill in each section of the plan as required.

Deployment Scenario

I've used the customer service call center for my deployment scenario. I have used five access points along with two switches, a server, and of course cat five cables. With this equipment I am therefore able to provide complete coverage throughout the entire call center area.

Deployment Scenario Reasoning

My reasoning for access point placement comes from the possibility of several problems throughout the call center. The first problem would be the number of computers being used at any given time throughout the call center plus a possibility that with company growth for call-center representatives could possibly be added in the future. In addition to that you have added problems of cement walls isolating the conference room along with what appears to be steel shelving that divides the actual call center itself. Along with that you also have vending machines and microwave ovens in the break room. My access point placement therefore concentrates service signal throughout the main call center floor along with an access point in the conference center itself. I've also placed two switches so as to minimize the amount of cat five cable being used while also giving the ability to expanded future needs warrant. I'm also assuming that I would be placing at least one server in the data center itself. Additionally with the number of computers they could be in use at any given time I feel that it was necessary to add an additional access points so the large majority of the call center be covered with a strong wireless signal. I also felt that since the conference room would be a place with heavy computer usage that it should have as strong of a signal as possible. I have also tried to place the access points along walls whenever possible to reduce the difficulty of running cat...
