Proper alignment of business goals and their strategies help to improve the financial performance of an organization. Decisions made in regard to logistics strategies impact whether or not goals of a firm are achieved at higher levels. At the same time, logistics strategy decisions are driven by a firm’s strategic decisions being made. Wood and Murphy (2011) explain how a warehouse location, technology investments, inventory deployment, and appropriate modes of transportation being utilized are logistics strategy decisions. Following will display the most improved warehouse based on 2009 performance compared to 2010 performance and show projected cost for last six months of 2010.

Brant Freezer Company having warehouses located in eight cities from Atlanta, Georgia to Los Angeles, California were logistics strategy decisions the organization had to make before building in these areas. Research had to be conducted to determine what the locations would be the most beneficial to house inventory so once ordered by customers, the shipping time to the customer would be reduced. When logistics strategy decisions are made to support efforts of the organization, customers and the firm benefit. According to Federal Highway Administration (2009), a firm’s goal when developing a logistics strategy is to increase profits by having reduced cost and to provide customer service. Having warehouses strategically located in order to reduce shipping time from the warehouse to the customer reduces cost because less miles are driven and transportation costs are reduced.

Warehouse Improvement
