When a person is given the opportunity to develop a team of individuals for the creation of a new product there are certain aspects a person must look at in order to achieve the best group for the product. A manager must be able to look at what the product is and what attributes are needed in order to develop the product. The manager for design team of H&M, a clothing company that sells fashionable clothes at affordable prices, was given the task of developing a new line of clothing that would appeal to those buyers who have expensive taste. These products in this new line would not cost as little as their main line and would compare to higher end retail stores like Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, and Versace. As the manager I had to develop a team of people outside the normal employees that could adhere to guidelines that would go with creating this new line.

One of the first things you look for in an individual is someone who is creative and can handle leaving what they are use to in order to try something new. Creativity necessarily involves killing old and sometimes comfortable way of doing business (Schuler, 2002). Also you need to host a team of fashion forward people. Since this is a company that makes its money on being able to produce clothing that is fashion forward you need people who think outside the box and are able to see what will appeal to buyers in the future. Also, the team needs to be able to understand the creative process as well as produce and commit to policies that support creative individuals.

Once a team of creative and fashion forward people are created, I had to next look at the many factors that would contribute to the performance of the group. The performance of a group is affected by many factors besides the ultimate goal of the group and what stages are being taken to develop the product (Griffin, 2009).
