TV Commercials Review

Commercial 1 :

For my first commercial I chose the one advertising freecreditreport.com. I always personally liked these commercials so I figured they would provide the best example. I watched a video on www.youtube.com to view the video of the ad. The intended audience in my opinion would have to be everyone across the United States who is worried about their credit. The ad explains what could happen if your credit wasn’t kept up with and the after effects of having a bad credit history. The commercial is exaggerated a little bit so that it maintains a good humor but the message is still given to the audience regardless.

The ad is ethical in my opinion. The visual message doesn’t necessarily match the way the guys are acting since they are singing merrily about the bad jobs they have. During the commercial there isn’t anything said that isn’t theoretically true so I would have to deem this as an honest and straightforward broadcasting. The goal of this ad is to get people in America to use this website to perform all of their credit checks. The ad itself is very convincing and is very catchy so that when it comes on people tend to sing along with the commercial. I can’t name a single weakness that this commercial has since it was so liked across America. The ad very much worked for me and is one of my favorites until this very day.

Commercial 2 :

My second commercial will be an ad used for the auto insurance company Geico. In this commercial it explains that it’s so easy to get a quote that a caveman can do it. I also watched this commercial on www.youtube.com. The intended audience for this commercial would have to be anyone who isn’t using Geico as their auto insurance company. This commercial doesn’t explain a lot besides the fact of how easy it is to get a quote through them. This commercial couldn’t in any way be unethical because the only audience it could possibly offend would have to be one including cavemen.
