Introduction of the Event
A charity art auction is an event in which art is donated by artists to sell at auction and bought by event attendees whose proceeds are then given to help those in need. There are many different types of non-profit organizations that hold charitable art auctions to raise money for a specific purpose. Charity art auctions have been held by non-profit organizations such as, The American Foundation for Equal Rights, AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and The Art of Elysium.
The American Foundation for Equal Rights held a charity art auction to support the federal case against Proposition 8. The event took place at Gladstone Gallery in New York City with attendees including New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Hilary Swank, Julianne Moore, George Lucas and others(Major). The charity event included both silent and live auctions of a very impressive lineup of artists.
AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) held their charity art auction at Bonhams and Butterfields auction house in Los Angeles, CA. The event celebrated its second year raising funds to provide necessary medical treatment for people living with AIDS/HIV in the Los Angeles area. In attendance at the charity event included celebrities such as Claire Brassoud, Pauley Perrette, Michael Steger and many more.
The Art of Elysium is a non-profit organization whom encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions (Our). Pieces of Heaven charity art auction is an annual event held by The Art of Elysium to benefit the Elysium project in helping children with medical conditions express their creative talents. The event took place at Palihouse Holloway in Los Angeles, CA and Celebrities in attendance included Elijah Wood, Amy Smart, David Arquette and others.
