The Health Care industry is no doubt a very complex entity. It is often the subject of political agendas, hotly debated with many differences of opinions that usually run along some part line, and everybody seems to be right in their approach in how to solve all the problems associated with modern healthcare. Among the very large scope of the health care debate seems to lay a subject of health care deep down in places not talked about at political tea-parties: Personal responsibility (Reiner, 1992).

Healthcare seems to be an issue debated from the stand-point of dealing with any number of associated issues in past tense; after someone’s health becomes a problem and how to deal with it present and future within a complex system of care. It is a shameful sight to see the way individuals, perhaps representatives of such a group, conduct themselves publicly in the likes of town-hall meetings as they blame others for all their health care woes, without any regard to the one ultimately responsible for personal health. These people have failed to evaluate themselves and perhaps should make the question one how to become a part of the solution as opposed to being a part of the problem.

Whatever the case may be, the demand for healthcare remains great while the system’s ability to meet this demand effectively and efficiently in meeting the specific needs of everyone continues to pose a major challenge. Individuals can help by taking personal responsibility for their own health care via preventive measures: This should be where good health care begins and increases, and where a continued reliance on an imperfect system of health care declines. This will not only help individuals become more conscious of their role in health care but also help to alleviate at least some of the burdens placed upon a system whose back is...
