Create-A-Diet

This activity demonstrates how to select a healthful food regime. Go to www.mypyramidtracker.gov to begin the activity. Select Assess Your Food Intake in the assessment section and register with your personal information. Select Proceed to Food Intake when you are finished. Now, enter the foods you eat in a typical day. After you have entered the quantity of the last entry, select Save & Analyze and then select Nutrient Intakes. You will review a report on how closely you were able to match your intake goals in a variety of categories.

After analyzing the nutritional value of your typical daily diet, describe the areas in which you need improvement by answering the questions below.

1. Is your fat intake too high?

Yes, my fat intake is too high compared to the recommended acceptable range. To improve this area, I would eat less fried foods.

2. Is your overall calorie intake too high or too low?

According to the recommended range, my calorie intake is too low. I think it is too low because I do not eat breakfast regularly. I need to start eating breakfast regularly to keep up with my calorie intake.

3. What are the steps you might take to improve your diet?

I would put more vegetables and fruits in my diet. I also would take fried foods out of diet and avoid trans fat all together. Another step I would take is proportioning my food throughout the day. This includes making sure I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the appropriate times.
