What I need to improve to become an effective team member

I consider myself as an effective team member, but as the phrase always used, “there’s always a room for improvement”. From the journal entries that I’ve reflected, I realize that sometimes effort is never “good enough”. One can always perform more than 100%, it is just a matter of how and where to apply it. In the future, I would not be easily satisfy with my work and would always strive to do better. I also learnt to be more sensitive in being outspoken and friendly, as it may lead to misunderstanding that you never intended to happen.

I am blessed with a bubbly personality and this trait has molded me into an extrovert person. This strength that I possess, have helped me to involve my other team mates who are quieter and shy to speak out. My nature is also a leader and having the experience, I lead my team in the first few rounds and I hoped I also empowered the others in becoming a leader. After all, a good leader is one who can teach others how to lead.

My major weakness is the feeling of doubt; towards myself and my team mates. I am always worried that the people that I work with do not share common goal as I envision. I’ve always have the tendency of completing others’ tasks as I was afraid they could not perform up to my expectation. This is a trait I have always tried to improve as I realize, in the real business world, it is impossible for me to complete others’ tasks. However, in this team I was grouped in, I learnt how to give and take; trusting my team mates on tasks assigned and accepting comments on my performance.
