Final

The topic for my persuasive essay will be “Renting an apartment is a better option than buying a house. My point of view will be against the idea of renting over owning a home only if it is possible and when they are ready financially and responsibly. I will include information in regards to why and when people should stop renting and purchase a home. The responsibility that comes with owning a home can be stressful but I will show how it can be worth it financially. When people purchase a home, they tackle responsibilities they never have before when they were renting which gives them a sense of personal growth and accomplishment. I plan on researching advantages of owning a home that outweigh those of renting. I think focusing on the cons of renting and the pros of owning will help support my position. As far as audience, I think I want to target growing families , those that may want to expand or couples who are planning on starting a family.

My plan is to inform readers the advantages and disadvantages of both owning a home and renting an apartment. I think I will use the “American Dream” and possibly the stage of a growing family as a focal point of my paper, after all the American dream is home ownership. Freedom such as being able to paint the walls or letting children play in the backyard are things growing families may want that isn’t available for renters. I know that not everyone can own a home depending on their situation, but I want to persuade the readers that they should strive towards ownership rather than rent their entire life. In terms of position, I don’t think I will be entirely against the idea of renting, just that it isn’t financially rewarding. I want my audience to look at a home ownership as an investment because when they rent they are paying towards nothing in a way. In the end, I want to let the audience decide for themselves what would be the best for them after reading my paper.
