1. The first assessment was in regards to personality profiling and the results of the
assessment determined that my core color was red. The color red is associated with
power and the individual who has a power motive needs certain things such as:
• To look good. (academically)
• To be right.
• To be respected.
• To receive selective approval (Hartman, 2011).
At the same time this individual also has certain wants:
• To hide insecurities. (tightly)
• To please self.
• Leadership.
• Challenging adventure. (Hartman, 2011).
As a goal setter, the individual with red as a core color is comfortable and confident
when setting goals. They feel at ease and it comes natural to them to set goals.
Additionally, the red individual has the benefit of being known to see the whole picture
instead of only seeing a partial view. These individuals are also highly disciplined and
are highly productive. Decision making comes easily and quickly and they are highly
action-oriented and task dominant (Hartman, 2011).
While there are many benefits to that of having a core color of red it also comes with
limitations as well. Some of those limitations are:
• Impatient with self in completing goals.
• Too rigid with expectations of his or her destiny.
• Lives life on paper rather than with people.
• Promotes quantity rather than quality.
• Angered easily if goals are not achieved or become blocked.
• Blames others for personal misfortunes (Hartman, 2011).
Depending on the individual, some of these limitations may not apply. As for myself, I
do not feel that I promote quantity rather than quality nor do I live my life on paper
instead of with people (Hartman, 2011).
In keeping this all in mind, this would clearly make it understandable why I was not
comfortable nor did I seem to fit into the manufacturing world. I also did not feel
comfortable when I worked in a fast food...
