INTRODUCTION OF AIR:

Air is the general name for the mixture of gases that makes up the Earth's atmosphere. It is natural mixture of gases that surround the earth. It is made of 79% nitrogen, 20% oxygen, and 1% other gases, mostly carbon dioxide. Air is the mixture of oxygen, nitrogen and other gasses that are consistently present around us. A cool breeze is an example of air. Air is also an early chemical term for a type of gas. Many individual airs made up the air we breathe. Vital air was later determined to be oxygen, and air became nitrogen.

DEFINITION OF AIR:

air is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, gaseous mixture, mainly nitrogen (approximately 78 percent) and oxygen (approximately 21 percent) with carbon dioxide, hydrogen, neon, helium, and other gases.

This mixture with varying amounts of moisture and particulate matter, enveloping the earth; the atmosphere.

The only reason Earth can sustain life is because of its atmosphere, which keeps air readily available for chemical reactions. A number of different gases, including oxygen, make up the Earth's atmosphere in a mixture that keeps plants, animals and people alive.

Importance of air:

Other planets have sunlight, but the Earth is the only planet we know that has air and water. Without air and water, the Earth would be unable to sustain life.

A diverse community of plant and animal life has thrived on this planet for millions of years, sustained by the sun and supported by the soil, water and air.
