Who was the sender?
Aaron R. – Project Manager
Who was the receiver?
Kevin M. – Sr. Telecom Technician
What channel was used to send the message?
What was the misunderstanding that occurred?
I forwarded an email criticizing Kevin’s people skills to him directly.
How could the misunderstanding have been avoided?
I should have reworded the email and forwarded it his direct supervisor.
What did you learn about the communication process from this activity?
I need to take the time to read and ask questions before criticizing the individual.
What seemed to be the main causes of the misunderstandings?
Kevin and I never took the time to communicate face to face prior to this email, yet my office is 20 Ft. from his cubicle. Now, when possible, I will have face to face conversations with him prior to sending him onsite.

If he would have taken the time to check the system, his emails or come directly to me would have found that I had emailed the updated project plan to the team and I also put it into the shared folder.
What did you learn about the communication process from this activity?
I am not the only one to make mistakes and jump to conclusions
What seemed to be the main causes of the misunderstandings?
Jeff and I never had a good working relationship and at times we let this interfere with the task at hand.
