Strengthen Communications Internally

There is an opportunity to strengthen communication and begin better relationships between the County Clerk coworkers and avoid future employee disputes. When a company ignores workplace conflict destructive forces are set in motion that decrease productivity, spread the conflict to others, cause negativity and lead to negative morale between the coworkers. In one organization, the president and CEO was on the verge of reorganizing the structure, affecting 600 people, so that two vice presidents would not have to talk to one another (Wilmot & Hocker, 2001, Chapter One) Communication is essential to any company success. There was a lack of communication within the internal workings of the department where the issuance of uniforms occurred. Each coworker is to submit a request for new/broken equipment or uniforms. A person in administration was informing most of the internal staff there was not need to do this. This comment and action caused turmoil within the department because some coworkers were made to submit requests and others were told it did not matter and they did not have to submit the request. The conflict was resolved by the senior administration sending out a memo to all coworkers with a step by step procedure to be followed.
