*encoding applicants’ information*pre-interview on phone | The company that I am working with is a full service overseas recruitment agency that specializes in recruiting personnel from the Philippines. My first job in the company that lasted for a week was somewhat challenging for I should be very careful in doing it. I encoded applicant’s information that was written in their résumés. Though this task was never been discussed in our class however, my supervisor does talk it over for me to understand well its importance for the applicants and for the company. By doing this, I learned that I need to be very careful in encoding applicants’ information, I need to make sure that everything in their résumés especially their work experiences are encoded very well because it will be the basis in sorting and choosing applicant/s that are qualified to the vacant position/s that are offered by our clients in abroad. So far, I think doing pre-interview on phone was the most challenging work I ever have done in my whole OJT life. At first, I was really wondering why it seems that I have difficulty in handling phone interview though I already know what to say and how to response to applicants questions, and though I know that the person from the other line doesn’t see me. Until I figured out that the reason behind this phone anxiety is the consciousness that I have with the tone of my voice since some of my friends told me that I’ve got an intimidating voice. So what I did was I practiced setting my voice on phone by calling my friends. In this, I have learned that not everything can be learn inside the classroom. Sometimes, we need to exert a little personal effort for us to acquire skills that are very important especially when we work. |
