Creative Process Paper

This paper will review the creative process in the lives of four notable artists. The generalizations based on research relative to each artist and his creative process including personal perspective on how that process results in each final product.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy. Leonardo was the illegitimate son of a Florentine notary and a pheasant woman whose name was Catherine. Leonardo was raised by his father who found that at an early age Leonardo showed a great deal of artistic characteristics. Leonardo was an exceptional mind that contributed not only to the art of paint, but also science. His curiosity and natural observations of the events of his time, others would consider non-eventful, positioned him in a high category in the world of science as well as art (J. Ryan, J Daigle, 2005).

At the age of 15 Leonardo move to Florence and became an apprentice to Andre del Verrocchio a well-known artist of the time (J. Ryan, J. Daigle, 2005). During this time Leonardo received formal training in painting and sculpture. He was always learning and growing because of the environment he was in and the education in art he received from his mentor. The results were fine pieces that continued to impress his mentor and teacher because of his young age.

In 1478 Leonardo, still living in Florence opened his own studio and was asked to paint an altar piece in a local church. During this time his genius of paint began to surface. The ability to showing lighting and movement, and in addition to linier perspective placing smaller and larger object to...
