1. The nature of transactional communication is like dancing with partners because communication is dynamic process that the participants create through their interaction with one another. This is true because like dancing communication depends on the behavior of the other partner’s level skill the dance will make both of them look bad.

2. The primary influences that shape the development of the self-concept is reflected appraisal and social comparison. Reflected appraisal is a mirroring of judgment around you allowing you to appreciate and value yourself. Social comparison is evaluating ourselves in terms of how we compare to others. Both of these help us develop our own self-concept.

3. Culture is a matter of perception because it is the language, values, beleifs, traditions, and customs people share and learn. Not every person is going to define their cultures or others in the same way, so this makes culture a matter of perception.

4. I would construct the students in our class in first order realities and second order realities. First order realities are physically observable qualities and second order realities are where we attach meanings to what we observe.
