Entry of a Subordinate Group Member

Hello, my name is Sharon and I’m a 14 years old African American girl. Before I was born my parents and grandparents were slaves to a White woman and her family. Once me and my brother was born, we became slaves and have been slaves until now. I feel lucky! We have lived on the plantations all my life and from what my parents say, they lived there all of their lives. Luckily, we didn’t get separated and split up into different families. We are all owned by the same woman. These last six months has been rough for me though. We have had to move to America on a boat but with this, there was a possibility that my family would be split up and that was difficult situation for me to handle and I haven’t been too happy about this possibility. And a girl my age. Who would be happy? So as a result of this commute to the Americas, I have been left with my mom. The rest of the family, my 1 brother and father, have been separated. They are suppose to be on another boat, but I can not visually see them. None of us really know why we had to leave the plantation, but we all would have rather stayed together. Once getting to America, we thought things would change, as far as slaves, but things are still the same. We are not allowed to use the same things our owners and their families use because...
