Croatan National Forest

North Carolina has four natural forests inclusive of 1.25 million acres of communal lands from the high mountains to the beautiful seas. Croatan National Forest is one of the four forests in North Carolina with an abundance of longleaf pines, evergreen-shrug bogs and wetlands on 160,000 acres of land on the North Carolina coast. Surrounding the forest are three sides of tidal rivers and the Bogue Sound, and briny water outlining the forest (United States Department of Agriculture, 2011). Croatan houses six trails, wildlife, plant life, and landmarks.

This essay will explain the fundamental and working dynamics of Croatan National Forest including change over time. In addition, this essay will review of how humans may affect biogeochemical cycles in the forest. Finally, the paper will look at how cognition of the forest’s structure and function can help or in the past assisted in developing plans for its management and restoring.

Croatan National Forest is an open community; the populations are without ecotones and are spread aimlessly. Croatan’s soil moisture rises and descends by regular degrees of inclination and the plants have unusual endurance to these inclinations, and extend to diverse places in sequence (Farabee, 2007). Croatan’s open structure provides protection for the community. The lack of boundaries makes it harder to destroy the community in a free-for-all fashion. Over time species can go and come within communities, nevertheless, the community can carry on.

Biogeochemical cycles consist mainly of biological, geological, and chemical methods. A biogeochemical cycle is the absolute trail a chemical takes through the four main components of Earth’s system: atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere.
