VoIP Project Plan

CMGT/410 and Project Planning and Implementation

VoIP Migration Background and Statement of Need

XYZ Enterprises was established in 1974 as a financial consulting firm that supports over 125 organizations and business. XYZ Enterprises has a corporate headquarters located in St. Louis, MO. There are four additional offices located in New York, NY, Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA, and Phoenix, AZ. The company has over 50,000 members and has acquired assets up to $200 million. The call center for XYZ Enterprises is located at the corporate headquarters with 100 employees in the call center division.

The current phone system has become costly to keep updates due to continues software releases. Each office of XYZ Enterprises operates on a separate phone system with multiple servers making very expensive and time consuming to support and maintain. There has been a rise in member complaints on how the features for the current phone system are outdated and do not support their needs. Increased cost also came from the current telephony system requiring too much hardware making it difficult administer.

There will be many benefits if the VoIP Migration Project is successful. The project will provide one multi-site phone system eliminating the use of different phone systems at each office. This will lower cost, reduce hardware and software maintenance, improve voice and data quality, eliminate separate voice circuits, and reduce monthly service. The new system will support XYZ Enterprises offices over an IP LAN-to-WAN connection via a central location. This new system provides state-of-the-art technology supporting mobile technology, a voice gateway and fully integrated solutions.
