Communication Theory

Communication is the form that is based on reading, writing, listening, speaking, touching or gestures. Its sole purpose is to provoke a response from one person to another from which it is received. Communication gains success within an organization and is essential to giving care to patients. Most often in a healthcare environment or facility there are some degrees of communications that are required with teams and departments, without cooperation the organization could potentially fail. Meanwhile in the work place there would have to be some type of team work in order for the environment to have a positive atmosphere for clients and among co-workers as well. In today’s society teamwork plays a major role when it comes to decision making and collaborative work. We must have effective communication that can be beneficial to the healthcare organization on order to have strong team members that are characterized by openness and trust within their departments. After reading the passage this author describes how the works with regular departments, groups, and teams can provide the best care for their patients through the communication process.

Communication plays as essential part in making changes from brain storming in meetings with team members, reviewing project related information, and having group participation in implanting changes that could take effect. Among the many changes that could take place would be that organizations can retrieve medical records and other images online and that would eliminate the paper trail. Du Pre (2005) states that healthcare organizations are changing the way that they do their business. In addition to the changes made at this author’s organization, bi weekly team meetings take place.
