Abstract

This paper will give brief reasons why situations result in crime, whether crime exist due to survival, the thrill, or it’s convenient, whatever reason a crime is committed someone should be held accountable. The desire to survive, ignorance of the law, mental illness, etc. none of these are reasons to intentionally commit crime. Some try to blame society for criminal activity, but society isn’t an excuse, it may play a small role in crime but it’s not an excuse, society doesn’t rob, kill, rape, etc. people do and people should be held responsible.

CRIME IN PERSPECTIVE 3

Crime is the result of individuals who have no respect for the law, ignorance of the law, mental illness, desire to survive, emotional, convenience, environment etc. Crime is human conduct in violation of the criminal laws of the state, the federal government, or a local jurisdiction that has the power to make such laws (Schmalleger, 2009).

Individuals with no respect for the law, can’t have much respect for themselves, and may even feel they are above the law. A person who drives over the posted speed limit is committing a crime and just because that individual enjoys driving fast, doesn’t make it less of a crime. Individuals who commits the same crime over and over again or a different crime, repeat offenders, have no respect for the law.

Some individuals are ignorant of the law; they just do not know they are committing a crime. A lot of people do not know that walking across a street outside of marked cross-walks and not at a corner,...
