Abstract

Smoking among teenagers is considered an emerging issue and a common public concern. This paper, based on secondary research, describes several problems related to adolescents’ smoking. Particularly, the paper points out various reasons why these ones smoke thanks to the first study. Next, based on the findings, the paper focuses on determine the impacts of smoking to teenagers‘thoughts as well as heath. It also performs some solutions to this issue; they are raising awareness of smoking and set up strict laws and leisure activities.

1. Introduction

According to the World Health Organization, 100 million people were killed in the 20th century and one billion more in the 21st will be threatened by the tobacco epidemic - more than malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV combined (WHO 2010). In Vietnam, 40 000 people die each year from smoking, three times higher than from traffic injuries deaths (WHO 2010).
