1. What are the different forms of social media that exist today? Provide examples of different social media and their primary purposes.

Social media is everywhere these days and exists in many different forms. Some examples include blogging, social networking, and photo sharing. Blogs are like journals that are online for everyone to see. Blogs give people the ability to express their thoughts and/or opinions with the world. Social networking’s main purpose is to form a community of people online, and keep in contact with friends and family. Although, some social networking sites such as Facebook, also serve for business advertisement. Photo sharing is the publishing of a user’s digital photos online, thus enabling the user to share them with others. There are many different sites that enable you to photo share such as Flickr, Facebook, and photoblogs.

2. What are the greatest benefits of social media for individuals and society?

Social media is beneficial to individuals and society for many different reasons. One of the biggest benefits people see in social media is the ability to stay connected with friends and family. Even if you have lost contact with someone, you have a greater ability to reconnect with them, even if they are hundreds of miles away. Another good thing about social networking is the ability to spread the word about a product or business. The use of social media sites give people and businesses the ability to promote and advertise new and old products quickly. It is also helps people review and rate products from all around the world.

3. What are the greatest problems of social media for individuals and society?
