Introduction

According to ABC Good Morning America, reported on 16th June, 2007, an estimated 40 million American use online dating services hoping to meet “the one” and there are more than 1,400 Web sites in the $700 million a year business.

Nowadays, people become too dependent on finding a mate through online dating services that they forget they may not be talking to who they think they are talking to and consider as friend. Most times a user will be highly influenced by a seemly nice person, and decide to take the next step in meeting their mysterious ‘soul mate’. Some people believe that recent research on online dating sheds a new light on understanding attraction, love, and romantic relationships. However, although the Internet has helped few find romantic relationships and marriages, online dating has been overlooked various defects and problems associated with this type of "contact."

Today, I will first talk about how dating style has evolved due to technology evolving, and what brought about society’s obsession with meeting and dating people online. Then I’ll deep into the consequences that online dating and why online dating is never a wise choice to find a relationship.
