“Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to mediate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order, and hatred for every kind of imposture” according to Bacon (1605). As a student of thinking critically one realizes that every individual has a thought process but not every individual’s thought processes are the same. This report will illustrate how one can be taught to critically think, give an example of a personal experience decision at one’s job, and show the benefits of using critical thinking process in one’s decision making.

Description of Critical Thinking

To critical think one will find it necessary to interpret and scrutinize stipulated data or questions in coming to an important outcome and the involvement of researching the viable issues with logic and fair-minded. Critical thinking is how one measures the data about the issue and controls the method of instilling one’s opinions onto an individual or group. To think critically can allow the individual to inquire important information, evaluate the information gathered, explain elaborate issues, and systematically convey smart resolutions. According to Elder (2010), “critical thinking entails an abiding interest in the problematic in thinking. It means thinking about one’s thinking to improve one’s thinking.”

The benefits that come from critical thinking can be seen as a collective consciousness. Individuals can be to a greater extent conscious of one’s ideas and responses, which are numerous in awareness that allows critical thinking to happen. Critical thinking galvanizes deep thoughts that let individuals to think critical and broaden one’s thought process and to view the issue from a different perspective.
