Personal Dilemma

Ethics can best be described as a set of values or morals that determine what is right or wrong, the moral chooses that a person makes in their everyday life. Ethics is a part of everyone’s life that must be dealt with constantly. In this paper I will address one moral dilemma that I faced in recent memory. I will discuss the nature of the dilemma, the course of action taken, and the decision I made concerning the issue at hand. I will also discuss the reason for that decision and its outcome.

Dilemma

I was recently given the assignment to write a paper concerning a moral value and the road I took concerning the actions taken and decisions I made. My dilemma with this paper came when I couldn’t decide on what to write. Two questions I had to ask myself were, should I make up a story just to get a good grade (hopefully), or should I research other papers looking for something that is close to or would resemble something I have done. I know both are unethical and morally wrong.

Decision

Every day I am faced with decisions that are either unethical or immoral. Sometimes these decisions are difficult and sometimes they are easy to deal with. Through past experiences I have learned what is right and wrong and use these experiences to give insight into new dilemmas. Yet there are still those times when I just have to say “who cares, no one will know.” With this came my next dilemma. I am I being honest with myself? Is getting a good grade as important as my self-respect? The only person that will know how the paper was written will be me. So who will it hurt if I rewrite someone else’s paper and put it in my own words? After much thought on the subject I came to a simple solution. I would write a paper on my dilemma about writing a paper on dilemmas.
