Why in the hell is Campbell making m see this film?

The film was very interesting. I am sure there are many like both Forrester and Jamal. One aspect that stood out to me was the fact that Jamal came from a not so good neighborhood, and the norm was to not do so well. I think that there is Forrester in everyone’s life.

Often times your environment can have a huge impact on how you progress in your future. You have many that have what it takes to succeed, but don’t have the motivation behind them. Then, in other cases you have people who use their not so good situation and use it to strive for something better. Sometimes it takes a Forrester to assure that anything is possible.

Sometimes when you are surrounding by negativity, many seems to follow in that same direction, I think because it is easier to do nothing, than to turn your situation around into something positive. I’m sure we have all had a moment in our lives where, giving up, or not trying, was easier than putting forth an effort. I like to remember that anything worth having comes from hard work.

For example, my niece comes to mind when I think of Jamal. She is the oldest of four children, not to mention the only girl. Her mother not the encouraging, stable, mother most children have. She has grown up never having much, just barely what is needed. They five of them live with her great-grandmother in a two bedroom house.

Now, almost 17years old, going into her junior year of college, she is left with no hope. I recently had a conversation with her about her plans after college. As, we began talking I realized how depressed, and hopeless she was. She began saying things like she would nothing, because her mother is nothing, and has nothing. She also said that whenever she would try and express her interest, she got nothing but negativity in return, as if she couldn’t do it.
