Abstract
The objective of this exercise is to make sure that we, as students of the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) graduate program at University of Phoenix, understand the various Channels of Communication, and are in a position to decide which channel is best suited for the given situation.
We are given three situations, and we need to decide and justify which channel is the best for each scenario.
Choosing the Best Communication Channel
Scenario One:
The marketing manager is charged by the VP of operations with the task of coming out with a strategy to enter this Beverage product into the global market. Because we are at a time crunch of only one week, we need to act fast, and there is no time to waste. So I will initially use the channel of e-mail to call for an emergency meeting. Then in the meeting face-to-face I will explain the situation to the team and show them the challenge. I choose face-to-face to do this because it is the richest channel of communication using which I can inspire my team in this project, and answer any queries they may have.
After the strategy has been developed, discussed, and found to be suitable, in order to convey the strategy to the VP of Operatoins, I will summarize the strategy in an email that gives a high level overview. This will ensure that there is no ambiguity and that the whole idea gets delivered to the VP’s inbox. Then I will schedule a face-to-face meeting with the VP to study the strategy thoroughly and more in-depth and answer any questions.
