TITLE: FACULTY CLEARANCE POLICY and CREDENTIALING
POLICY: All NYUCN faculty must be in compliance with health clearance and credentialing policies as required by New York University and the College of Nursing. The faculty
member is responsible for providing NYUCN with evidence of immunity (one time only) and health status/screening and licensing/certification status (annually). These
documents are first required on initial appointment and then as noted below. Bring completed/signed documents (original as appropriate) to NYUCN Office of Academic
Clinical Affairs and keep a copy for your own records.
RATIONALE: All NYUCN faculty (FT & PT), whether teaching in a clinical/practicum component of a course, or not, are required to be in compliance with health clearance and credentialing requirements in order to meet NYUCN policies, NYS registration, and CCNE accreditation of nursing programs requirements. Faculty are expected to be prepared to act in the role of a clinical instructor, if needed, and/or be in health care agencies for various reasons such that patient contact is possible creating risks for both exposure to and transmission of communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.* Therefore specific procedures are needed to:
1. Decrease health risks to faculty.
2. Protect patients, students and other health care professionals with who faculty interact with.
3. Comply with NYUCN healthcare agency contracts, New York University Student Health Center policies, OSHA regulations, and New York State Department of Health policies.
