The future areas of obstacles for racial and ethnic minorities in the U.S. consist of but are not limited to: the necessity to fight spectatorship, appropriate intergroup contact, acknowledge racism happening everywhere and concede how racism has been denied, minimized and justified. Just by bringing groups together, doesn’t necessarily minimize hate; however, if groups are brought together, each group has to have equal state, power, and prestige. A goal must be reached together – it must be a joint effort. Contact has to be personalized to help break down stereotypes as it causes people to be seen as individuals. And, such contacts need to be supported by other authoritarian groups.

The future areas of opportunities for racial and ethnic minorities in the U.S. should be structured as a systemic approach used by the military and schools. Though, historically, leadership has been able to manipulate ordinary people to behave violently and with full of hate, it can also be used to persuade those resulting in a more progressively, systematic approach to effectively dismantle oppression, discrimination and racism. If diversity is exposed at a young age, it will contribute to a change in future generational ideology, where behavior and beliefs become congruent. Opportunities will become more prevalent for society’s youth if they are given alternatives to hate, violence and other ill views. Different ways need to be found that will teach and structure youths to become part of a better and more productive society/community. Youths need to become more aware and conscious of the reasons to be good, to be kind, and to help fellow man, and to recognize the implications in behaving otherwise. Leadership and role models can promote cooperation by acting to eliminate hate/violence, prejudice and discrimination. And, actions can be taken on empathy, alone, that will alleviate the concentrations of prejudices.
