Being prepared vocationally is based upon the principles we use to establish ground financial management skills. I would highly recommend doing so by following these three steps. One, Identify who you are, Two, Live by God’s will, and Three, Set Financial Ground Rules.

When it comes to choosing a career, the best approach is to identify who you are. Identify your skills and abilities. Determine what you are best at. In order to do this, you must first identify who you are-that is, who has God called you to be and what exactly does he have planned for your life. This is an important principle because without truly understanding God’s purpose for your life, you may just be wandering trying to find a career that best suits you, and never actually find that right career. Your career should be something that you are passionate about. That is why God has given us all specific gifts and abilities that differ from one another. These gifts help us to discover the callings that he has placed on our lives. If you want to have a career and enjoy what you are doing, being sincerely passionate about it, do some soul-searching by identifying who you are.

Now that you have identified who you are, it’s time to put it into action. God commands us to know ourselves, and to be true to ourselves. He wants us to be true to who he has called us to be. God’s call on our lives is consistent with who we are. Self-knowledge is the important part of this battle, but that is only one part of it. The real challenge is to live in a way that is congruent with who we are, how God made us, and how God has given us the ability and talents to do what he wants us to do. God has placed a desire in our heart and has crafted our personalities. He wants us to live truthfully according to his will. The essential and mature...
