As the month of August slowly comes to an end, down south farmers spend numerous hours in the blazing sun and humid heat to cultivate successful crops. Each day usually consists of the same routine. My grey-haired six foot five grandfather pulls out his beloved overalls with his favorite dusty brown boots as his wardrobe. While he's getting dressed and I'm still getting the crust out of my eyes, the sweet smell of eggs, cheese grits, country bacon, and toast fills the house as my grandmother is over the stove finishing her daily duties. We each grab a chair and sit side by side as we greatly appreciate breakfast. Now the time has come for us to indeed establish the day.

The morning sun slowly begins to approach unnoticed to make its daily appearance. As my grandfather and I slowly stroll towards the barn, we pause for a brief second and close our eyes just to inhale the early morning breeze. The rich green grass has been trimmed to perfection so if one were to focus on it closely one would be able to catch sight of any small creature that may be moving very slowly. We gazed upon the abundant crop of bright yellow corn that had been slowly growing and maturing in the immaculate summer weather. The beaming green ears on the corn ensured us that they were ripe and ready for the picking. The ripeness of the corn was very important because in the small rural town in which we live the success of your crop could determine whether or not you and your family eats or whether you and your family starves.

We finally reached the large barn filled with our domesticated cattle. Our oversized brown and white cows not only provided us with tender beef for food, but the female cows also provided our family with the most enriched white milk that is available in our town. The loud sounds of cattle moans echoed throughout the barn as my grandfather told me to fetch the silver milking pan that we always use to milk the female cattle.
