When I think of plagiarism the first thing that comes to mind is stealing or being dishonest. Taking someone else's work and using it as your own has gotten very common among students. Some students think that it's much easier for them to copy someone's work and use it as their own. Sometimes plagiarism happens without the writers knowledge; by simple quoting someone else's work without citing it is one of the most common types of plagiarism. Another type of plagiarism that is often over looked is using your own work from a previous assignment without citing it or getting permission from your instructor. People think that just because it is their own work that it is not considered plagiarism.

Writing has never been easy to me and as I grew older it seem to have gotten harder and harder for me. I was about 13 years old when I got my first big project on Charles R. Drew. I was overwhelmed because I didn’t know where or how to do the research for this paper. My teacher had gave us a few weeks to do the project but the more I read the more I was confused. Toward the end of the project I was so frustrated and upset that I copied all of my work from every place that I could and I also had my uncle draw me a picture.

I knew that it was not right but I didn’t realize that it was plagiarism. When the time came for me to present my project I didn’t know anything that I had wrote. I had to read everything word for word from the paper. I received a good grade but it was embarrassing that I didn’t know or learn anything about this person from the whole project. I learn that cheating does not help you learn and that it takes the fun out of any new experience.
