Employment Discrimination

The emphasis in this RGC analysis is based on discrimination in the workforce in America. Some prevailing career developments are built on theories on employment discrimination centering on three factors: gender, race, and class. Many studies on employment discrimination have demonstrated differences in the abilities by a case by case experience of those who are victims of gender, race, and class discrimination. These factors shape the experience of all people. Most workplace like to insist that they provide equal opportunities to all people of gender, race, and class, but employment discrimination is very much a reality. When analyzing the theories of employment discrimination, race must be considered with class and gender. These three factors play a role within one another. Though corporate society chooses to believe gender and racial discrimination is non-existence and ignore employment discrimination in race, gender, and class, these three factors are still practiced in everyday workplace life.

Over the last couple of decades, women have made great strands to becoming an effective member of the workforce community with some succeeding powerful levels within their careers; however, gender discrimination is still an ongoing issue women face with the "glass ceiling" analogy. Women encounter three forms of gender discrimination in the workforce which are individual, institutional, and structural. There are several theories circling the idea of why woman cannot be in what are considered to be "male" roles or high managerial roles. Common theory is that women are the nurturers by nature and cannot handle the high demand and workload of upper management/executive level positions and fulfill mother and wife obligations. Another theory is that genetically women are more emotional than men; therefore, women are not capable in making appropriate decisions when dealing with stressful situations.
