1. What was the rationale for the establishment of EventScotland by the Scottish Government?

EventScotland was established in 2003 which give central coordination and leadership to the drive to secure major events for Scotland. Its main task is to work in partnership with public bodies, including steering group and private sector events organizers, to deliver a portfolio of events in Scotland. The rationales for the establishment of EventScotland are as follow:

First, it aims to build Scotland’s international image by maximizing the benefits of their existing success and their ‘icon’ events, including the Edinburgh Festivals and the Open Golf, EventScotland is dedicated to leading Scotland’s events industry and strengthening the nation’s position as a world class events destination, as well as creates international profile for Scotland.

In addition, EventScotland try to generate positive impacts and legacy for Scotland, develop a portfolio of international and regional events that delivers a clear and lasting impact for Scotland and enhances our international profile and reputation.

Besides, EventScotland contributes develop a portfolio of international and regional events that promote improved skills and greater training in the event industry for Scotland, it also creates opportunities and increase sustainable economic growth for Scotland to flourish.

In addition to the above benefits received from events, EventScotland is established to utilize and develop the assets of Scotland through sporting and cultural events, which events can enhance their cultural identity and heritage, their people, natural environment, built facilities and providing signature events.
