1- The question is would it have been possible for yahoo not to provide the information? I agree with the fact that not providing the information could have endangered its employee. However providing the information wasn’t ethical and did not promote human rights. I think the right thing to do was not to provide information while avoiding endangering its employee. To do that, Yahoo headquarters in US should have taken the responsibility and censor from Chinese government themselves the information so that their employee of Yahoo China didn’t risk anything.

2 - By giving to the government information concerning the email account of Shi Tao Yahoo! is responsible of his imprisonment. As defender of the liberty of expression on the Internet, Yahoo!’ should have check before giving the information to the police what was the request about. Then they should defend him, and request more help from the U.S headquarters and their lawyers.

3 - The People’s Republic of China government has made more than sixty Internet regulations, and censorship systems are vigorously implemented. China's Internet environment remains one of the world’s most restrictive. The big problem is not that governmental authorities block website content but is that they also monitor the Internet access of individuals. There is not expression right in the Web in China.

4 - I think that Yahoo US could have taken more responsibility and take notice of what was happening and censor this information from the Chinese government. Otherwise they also could have left China thinking Human Rights were more important than money. Once the incident occurred Yahoo could have been more human and admit their mistakes and that they knew exactly the reason for the Chinese government request. After harming human rights, lying to the public was probably one of the worst thing that could occurred for Yahoo’s and the manager’s reputation.
