BARRIERS OF COMMUNICATION

Various barriers of communication within an organization and respective measures to overcome it.

Communication is a process by which you convey your message to someone or a group of people. And if the message is conveyed clearly and unambiguously, then it is known as effective communication. In effective communication, the message you had sent would reach the receiver with very little distortion. However, a communication becomes successful only if the receiver understands what the sender is trying to convey. When your message is not clearly understood, there is likelihood that you are facing a barrier in communicating effectively.

Barriers to effective communication could cause a roadblock in your professional and personal life and it could be one of the major hurdles in achieving your professional goals.

In an organization, communication plays an important role for individual and different management level. To transfer information effectively as it is the key factor to success of any organization. Through communication, individuals can improve and work towards goals in making the organization runs more effectively and efficiently. Here are some factors that affects communication.

SELECTIVE PERCEPTION

Everyone has their own perception on things; depending on their beliefs even when their beliefs are false .The difference is on how we see things in life, depending on individual mindset or expectations. In communication when the same information is given to two different individuals, they may or may not think the same. Different individuals views on the information given may create a misunderstanding when effective communication is not performed. Barrier of such is called selective perception.

SOLUTION

Ways to overcome is to keep an open communication and be sure of your perception by asking people around you. It is always good to be sure and observe what others reaction to the given information.
