Alzheimer is a brain disease that causes progressive loss of intellectual and social skills that interfere with a day to day life activities. Symptoms

Memory loss is one of the early symptoms of Alzheimer. First they have trouble remembering recent incidents, trouble with mental skills such as math, writing and reading, having difficult performing normal day to day tasks such as driving, behavior problems, and confusion. Eventually the diseases progresses to the point where the person is totally disconnected with reality

Risk Factors

Age is one of the most relevant age factors. Alzheimer is more frequent in adults over 65 years old. However 5% of the people with Alzheimer can experience an early onset of the disease. (40years old) Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels, poor diet and sedentary life style are also associated with Alzheimer. Demographics

Alzheimer is more common in women than men. Approximately 16% if the women over 71 years old are going to suffer from dementia however only 11% of men in the same age group suffer dementia.
