Organizing Paper

One of the four functions of management is organizing. Bateman and Snell states that “Organizing is assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals. Organizing activities include attracting people to the organization, specifying job responsibilities, grouping jobs into work units, marshaling and allocating resources, and creating conditions so that people and things work together to achieve maximum success” (Bateman & Snell, 2009, p. 20, pp. 1). Management must have a clear understanding and knowledge of the qualification and capabilities of the employees to organize the most valuable resources of an organization better. Management can assign individuals to work areas, set up training for the employees, acquire resources, and organize productive work groups. Through this function of management, managers can establish the organizations internal configuration, build and maintain relationships with employees, and allocate valuable resources. The organizing function of management relates to an organization’s resources and includes physical assets, monetary, human resources, knowledge, and technology. The main focus of the paper will be the evaluation of the relation these resources, knowledge, human resources, technology, and monetary to the organizing function of management at the Toyota organization.
