To forgive is to love

Forgiveness is a word that is expressed daily. Most people would automatically assume that being sorry is the only true way to define the word forgiveness. The opening of the mind can lead to better possibilities of the word forgiveness, for example, decisional, and another form of forgiveness could be classified as emotional. Decisional forgiveness and emotional forgiveness will be explained with the pros and cons listed throughout this essay. Upon conclusion of this essay, people will have a better understanding of the word forgiveness.

God will forgive anyone who asks for forgiveness. Many religions across the world preach about how important it is to forgive one another. What does it mean to forgive? To forgive someone is to release compassion in order to bring peace. It is important to forgive the person that treated one badly, so one won’t have to live with the painful memories that once haunted them. When one forgives they must forget as well or else they haven’t forgiven at all. To forgive means to “give up”, to let go. One is much happier when they have forgiveness in their heart.

Being willing to forgive lifts a painful burden and keeps one from slipping into depression. To forgive someone does not mean that one has to reconcile with the person who treated them badly, it just means that one will have peace in their heart after one forgives. It is not easy to forgive those who left one hurting, however to forgive helps the process of healing the body and soul. When one forgives it makes a better life and brighter future for themselves and others around them. If one chose not to forgive there would be negative consequences.

God forgave us, so why can’t we forgive others? The people who chose not to forgive others will encounter negative consequences. A person will encounter anger from all the feeling building up inside. A person will encounter hatred because the anger grew over time for not forgiving. If one does not forgive...
