Good senior management does not make decisions without a clear understanding of how those decisions impact the organization as a whole. Thus far in my career, my experiences have been within a narrow focus: investments and finance. However, senior management has asked me to participate in more of the decision making process at WesCorp. In order to do so effectively, I need to broaden the scope of my capabilities. While a portion of what I need to learn comes from experience, some of the missing pieces require a further commitment to my education. I need to pursue this education now as WesCorp has made clear their goals for my development.

WesCorp built a pathway for my eventual movement into senior management. However, given that I managed fixed income and consulted credit unions on liquidity management the last three years, my understanding of how some decisions impact other parts of the organization are somewhat vague at times. The business world is a very integrated world, and it is critical to fully understand how decisions in the investment area, for example, will impact marketing, accounting, human resources, and business development, among others. The education an Anderson School MBA provides could dramatically enhance the opportunities for me to become more effective in my organization. It could also enhance my well-roundedness for this or any other organization in the future as I better grasp how all of the moving parts work together and how to make strategic decisions that can positively impact each of them, not just investments and finance.

Participating in the FEMBA program at the Anderson School would allow me to pursue the education I need while maintaining my current status within my organization. I have been fortunate to be put in a place within the company where I am making strides towards achieving my goals and can make an impact on the organization.
