What single change would most improve life in your community?

Nowadays, in our community, we do not lack problems such as poverty and unemployment. The elected members of the village council are expected to solve the problems and fulfill all the requirements of the people. But once they occupy the seats, most of them forget their duties.

Actually the village council consists of twelve elected people. Two of them are the President and the Chairman. The rest should tackle the problems and bring new propositions to the President and the Chairman. The single change to improve life in my community is to change the attitude of the village council towards the nation.

Unless there is a proper village council, no improvement would occur in the community. The President of the village council must be the one who can guide the community members with the help of his persuasive personality. Most of the elected people should have a consciously educative function. They should be bold enough to face conflicting situations and choices. Conflicts and choices should not cause any dilemma in them. New propositions should be thought of for the benefit of the people.

A true village council consists in having a general body of beliefs. The most important thing is the constant interaction between the leader and the people. The elected members should be able to set the goals of the nation before the people. The ten persons should have the ability to think clearly, arrange their ideas in the most logical manner, and present them before the President and the Chairman. Some educated people can solve their own problems but illiterate persons cannot do so. The village council should be able to confront the major aspirations and the gravest anxieties of the people they are leading.
