Kudler Foods E-commerce
Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty food retailer with three locations in the San Diego area. The purpose of this paper is to respond to Service Request (SR-kf-013), to describe the business systems necessary for developing a Frequent Shopper Program at Kudler’s stores. Several aspects must be considered in the application of this type of program. The potential advantages of e-commerce associated with this program and the legal, ethical, and security concerns will be discussed. The development of this program will entail some cost, and a financial analysis used to validate those expenses is recommended and explained.
Advantages of E-commerce
Because the primary aim of this service request is the tracking of individual customer purchases for the purpose of allotting loyalty points redeemable for a variety of products and services (Apollo Group, 2011), Kudler Fine Foods must first procure these services. Offering high-end gift items, discounted cooking and wine classes, and travel upgrades as rewards for accumulated points will entail Kudlers’ partnering with a number of other businesses, such as Travelocity, Expedia, Saks, and Bloomingdales. This collaborative commerce will help ensure that the products and services offered will be delivered to eligible customers. Developing and maintaining these partnerships is essential to this undertaking.
The fact that Kudler’s already has an Internet presence is invaluable. Some additions to their web site will allow loyal customers the option of viewing accumulated points and the associated redeemable items. A code on the loyalty card issued to each customer will be easily identified by Kudler’s computerized tracking system, allowing direct shipment of redeemed items to their home. Redeemed specialty food items will be obtainable directly through Kudler’s retail establishments in San Diego.
